Make Your Own Fabric Collage Notebooks
In this creative workshop you will have the opportunity to make your own fabric collage and then use it for the cover of your journal, cookbook or any other book that comes to mind. The challenge of this process is to find just the right piece of fabric that can captures the feeling of the new image you want to create. A once polka dot dress becomes a puffy fish, a green paisley print captures the texture of a frog's skin. a loose green batik coveys the leaves of an artichoke. Let your imagination run wild with infinite possibilities of fun created by the designs in and textures of fabric.
WHAT IS INVOLVED?
Each person will be able to choose from a wide variety of fabrics in order to create a collage. They will also receive a three ring notebook into which the collage is placed and cherished as a journal cover. For those who want to, a beautiful effect is achieved when the finished fabric collage is xeroxed. The flattened image is unique in its beauty as is the original piece. Each has a different charm.
HOW LONG IS THE WORKSHOP?
This workshop needs several hours in order to allow time to ponder as well as create. Four hours allows adequate time to gather at the end and reflect on the experience and the finished creations.
DO I NEED TO BE AN ARTIST?
This workshop is meant to be an experience of play. All that is required is the ability to cut and paste, and the ability to leave the inner critic at home!
WHERE IS THE WORKSHOP?
This workshop is available off site as well as in Nancy's home in the woods near Lake Huron. It can be done indoors or outdoors but preferably not on a super windy day!
WHAT IS THE COST?
The workshop is offered at $40/person with a minimum of ten people. This fee includes all instruction, materials and a notebook for each person to keep. An additional mileage/travel fee is expected for workshops off site.
